BRIEF HISTORY: The Church
School Ministry was created at
the inception of the Good
Shepherd Baptist Church in 1940
under the leadership of Rev.
Essie Mae McIntye, the church
organizer and founder. The
Church School is the foundation
through which Biblical teaching
and concepts are shared with
members. Over the years, the
church school staff has
presented Biblical knowledge
that has transcended into modern
times, those principles and
precepts that continually equip
individuals for Christian
living. The current Church
School is composed of the
following classes:

(Ages 6-8) Primary
(Ages 9-11) Juniors |

12-14) Intermediate
(Ages 15-17) Teens
(Ages 18-up) Young

MISSION STATEMENT: To
teach believers the spiritual
truths found in the Bible in
order to equip them for
successful living and obedience
to the Word of God.
GUIDING SCRIPTURE: Study
to shew thyself approved unto
God, a workman that needeth not
to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the word of truth. II Timothy
2:15
EVANGELISTIC ACTIVITIES:
• Providing Church School
invitations for distribution to
members and community
• Work with the New Member’s
Committee to welcome new members
STAFF: The Pastor
appoints the Church School
Superintendent and the Assistant
Superintendent. Teachers are
appointed by recommendation of
the Superintendent and Director
of Christian Education after
completion of the Creative Ways
of Teaching class and other
aspects of teaching preparation
such as completion of workshops,
courses, and conferences. All
Church School teachers and
leaders are expected to attend
teacher’s forum weekly, and
support other ministries of the
church.
MEETING DATE, TIME AND PLACE:
Church School meets each Sunday
at 9:45 a.m. at the church. The
classes meet for one hour.
